Monday Musing: 29/06/15

Welcome to another week! Following my decision to work through Time’s Top 100 Novels, I have been spending all of my spare time with my head in books. And it has paid off! I have just wrapped up #98 and am ready to conquer #97 – the intimidatingly lengthy A Dance To The Music Of Time: Spring by Anthony Powell. My current reading challenge has definitely done the job of redirecting my attention back to the books – something that was long overdue!

This week’s Monday Musing is inspired by the greatest part of the literary lifestyle. I’m sure that you are familiar with Abbas Al-Akkad’s famous quote on the wonders of reading – “I do not read for I have renounced life, I read because one life is just not enough for me.” Reading is like dreaming, and I love this quote from Emily Bronte which (although not actually about reading) I think totally captures one of the greatest contribution that novels make to the mind of a reader.

Have a fantastic week!

  1. I really, really, like that quote. On a funny note- that storm analogy is kind of like driving. Sometimes when I'm driving routes that I take a lot (to and from school/work for example) I zone out and when I get home I'm like “oh… erm.. I'm here! How did that happen?”S&Rhttp://www.CattailDown.Typepad.comFollow us on Blog Lovin'!http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/7118895/cattail-down

  2. LOVE that quote! Brilliant! I'm a last minute packer, but I'm only last minute because I know exactly what I'm taking, as I've thought about it for weeks before hand. Haha! I'm last minute, but super organised at the same time. 🙂

  3. Last minute super organisation is the ideal, really. You've achieved a level of travel efficiency unknown to most. I'm very jealous! And yes, it's an amazing quote. I love Paul Theroux!

  4. I am going to michigan next week to see coriolanus, if you can believe that! (not live, unfortunately.) I am really excited about it, because I'm a fan of tom hiddleston and a HUGE fan of hadley fraser! so glad you enjoyed it, though. that's making it even harder to wait 🙂

  5. I can say it was the best anything I have ever seen. I mean, ever. it was incredible. this is not something I can fangirl over; the talent was spectacular. it was such a raw, intense performance, I am emotionally battered. on the bright side, I don't think I'll ever get over it. 🙂
